What is the greatest thing your grandma has ever done?

grandma has been a wonderful and endearing presence in my life from the day I was born. She has always had a special place in my heart and she is one of the most significant people in my life. Over the years, she has done countless things that have made me feel special and loved. But among all the wonderful things Grandma has done for me, there is one that stands out above all else –– teaching me how to knit.

When I was seven years old, Grandma saw the look of fascination on my face as I watched her knitting needles clicking away as she worked on her latest project. That's when she decided it was time to teach me this beautiful craft. After showing me how to hold the needles and catching me up on some of the basics, we were off into a world of possibilities! It felt like magic to watch yarn transform into something tangible, something cozy like hats or scarves or sweaters. It captivated my attention so much that eventually I was able to make knitting projects without any help from Grandma - which made her very proud!

Knitting became an important part of our relationship, as Grandma would knit for hours with me by her side. Knitting was our time to talk about anything – school work, boys, family drama – but also about more meaningful things like dreams for the future or stories about our ancestors. These moments are still some of my fondest memories till this day. Now, many years later when I am working on complex patterns with intricate colors and stitches, I always think back to those moments with Grandma who opened up this whole world of possibilities to me by teaching me how to knit with love and patience.
